Brett and I have been lamenting about just how quickly life is flying by!! I turned 30 last year, Brett just turned 35. Our so-called "baby girl" is 3 in a bit over a month, and by then we will have another bubba in the house. Very scary...
Perhaps we have noticed it most with Charlotte. It seems like just yesterday that she was born, everything was so new to us, and now we are faced with a bright, independent, somewhat bossy nearly 3-year old. She is blowing us away with how much she is learning and changing every day. But I must admit we are finding this stage a little difficult, largely because she has all but dropped her daytime nap - when I need it most - and this leads to her being pretty irritable by 4pm. I know we are lucky the naps lasted this long, but I am missing it sooo bad!! And whilst the tantrums are fewer, they have been replaced with an "attitude". I find myself yelling at her to stop yelling (great role-modelling?!?), but many a time she has beaten me to it, calmy saying "stop yelling please mummy". I have been devastated that on several ocassions when Brett has arrived home from work she puts on a full-scale welcome home dance for him (complete with a chant of "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!"), and then promptly dobs me in "Mummy yelled at me today!!". Never mind that I have played with her, fed her, constructed cats out of playdoh, danced to "The Fairies" - the one thing she focuses on is the 5 minutes of me losing my cool!!! Oh dear....
But anyway, things are about to change in a big way, for all of us. I look at our friends with more than one child and wonder how they do it!!! I guess we'll just have to see how we go...
Sorry about the somewhat sappy post. Hope you're enjoying your weekend.
Cass xoxo
